Qualification --

Experience in similar role in a new ship building facility

Should be able to read WPS / AutoCAD drawings and do the assigned work

1.MIG WELDER - should know MIG and MAG welding , should be able to adjust machine settings, should be able to read understand WPS and work independently


1. 1st category. Installation of ventilation systems. This specialist can do all works in relation to thermo-insulation but also can implement / install ventilation system, reads drawings and etc

2. 2nd category. Tinner. He can put insulation wool + put tin (tin-plates)

3. 3rd. wool installer. No experience required, only hands to put insulation wool.

The Basic Skills of a Ship Insulator--Ship insulators must read and understand the ship’s blueprints and bills of materials to install the correct type of insulation at the correct location. They cut insulation to fit, where necessary. They line the hollow spaces with the appropriate type of insulation, fitting it with knives, saws or other tools. They may wrap piping or glue expanded insulation into place. They finish insulated surfaces with covers, strips or other sealants to prevent damage to the insulation. If they use blown insulation, they may need to distribute it using a variety of tools. They may also fill blower hoppers with insulation, prepare surfaces for installation or remove or encapsulate asbestos, using approved procedures.



· Lays out and fabricates metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and braces them in position within hull of ship for welding: Lays out position of parts on metal, working from blueprints or templates and using scribe and hand tools

· Perform oxyfuel / Plasma, machine cutting with hand torches, saws and grinders

· Locates and marks reference lines, such as center, reference work, buttock, and frame lines

· Positions parts in hull of ship

· Aligns /prepares parts in relation to each other, using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, grinders, wedges, and mauls

· Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding

· Installs packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips uses hand tools to loosen / tighten and remove / replace bolted parts

· May tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding

· May roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts, using shop machinery, and jigs

· Performs proper safe rigging to move plates and parts to work areas


· Ability to read, interpret, and work from Marine blueprints, job specifications, instruction manuals, manufacturer’s handbooks, change orders, and contract specifications

· Must understand metric to standard and standard to metric conversions. Determines dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and set-up requirements

· Must have knowledge of equipment, work processes and techniques used for acceptable ship fitting

· Must have at least 2 years of experience as a ship fitter

· Comply with all Company Safety Rules
