A gypsum board job involves installing, finishing, and repairing drywall for walls, ceilings, and partitions, requiring skills in cutting, mudding, taping, and sanding to create smooth, level surfaces. Key duties include reading plans, framing, applying joint compound, and ensuring quality/safety standards. 
 
Gypsum board installer/carpenter job description
  • Installation: Measure, cut, shape, and install gypsum panels on walls/ceilings according to blueprints.
  • Finishing: Apply joint compound (mud), tape, and multiple coats to create seamless joints; sand surfaces smooth for painting/finishes.
  • Framing: May involve setting up metal or wood stud framing (metal stud framing is common for partition walls/ceilings).
  • Repair: Perform maintenance and repairs on existing gypsum board structures.
  • Collaboration: Work with other trades (painters, electricians, etc.) to ensure project completion.
  • Safety & Site Management: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Required Skills: Proficiency with hand/power tools, ability to read construction drawings, strong attention to detail, and physical ability to lift materials.
